Chicken Wire Sculpture

Why sculpt out of chicken wire? Ask the artist who’s started a Kickstarter to fund 8-foot high chicken wire sculpture of Minnie Pearl. “When people see sculptures, they often walk straight past but with chicken wire they double take and return to have a closer look,” writes artist Ricky Pittman. “You can see their brain is trying to work out how it’s made.”

Hi ,

I am the Cédric Le Borgne assistante.

The picture of men making a mesh circle is not a creation of Mr. Le Borgne.

However, thank you for your interest in his work.

The above description of Shi Jindian's works is not quite correct.

Shi hand twists thin wire around real objects from everyday life and objects around him which are of importance to contemporary society.

It is a very time consuming and intensive creative process.

Thank you for your interest.

It amazes me where we find art!

Love your work! One question. The baboons say there on display from 2011 to 2021. How do you know that since this is only 2014?

Barbara Tabiner

Hello. I am not an artist but on every alternate year I exhibit a scarecrow at a local festival to promote the International Day of Peace.

They always look very amateurish.

I have been looking at how other countries make scarecrows and straw sculptures and thinking about using chicken wire as a base for my figure with straw layers tied on with string, the Japanese way.

The theme this year is `Rio' . I would like to have a Rio carnival dancer as my scarecrow but I want her to look scarecrow beautiful.

How do I judge how to get the right measurements for the chicken wire foundation so I can tie on the straw and still give her a normal shape with the right proportions when it is finished?

I want her to be at least six feet tall.

Hope you can help.

With very best wishes,

Barbara
