Pallet Furniture

You can find free pallets at flooring and furniture stores, lumber and stone yards, etc. Resourceful folks have turned them into cost-effective chairs, tables, beds—even entire houses.

How to Avoid Using Dangerous Chemically-Treated Pallets

Pallets often have an IPPC (International Plant Protection Convention) logo stamp. Heat-treated pallets are stamped with “HT”. Chemically-treated pallets have an “MB” stamp. Do not use the MB-stamped pallets. Happily, heat-treated pallets are much more common.

Also check to see if the pallet was pressure-treated, if they were, they will have an odd green tint. Never use pressure treated wood indoors and use with discretion outdoors.

Pallets rule.

maggie brochu

Thank you for featuring my bench in your super cool line-up! I love pallet projects.

how cool to recycle theses pallets

There's a Kickstarter Campaign right now to use Pallets to make roofs in developing countries -- they are using them to hold discarded water bottle. Here's the link:

Where can you buy the wooden pallets??

Just the sight of a wooden pallet reminds me of the 6 years of pure HELL I spent working in a factory.

Often businesses will give old pallets away for free. You can often find wood pallets at warehouses and docks. Large grocery stores, furniture and appliance stores are also good places to ask.

Wishing you luck in finding some!

Thanks for the inspiring post, such great ideas.

Happy little Beans

we some times have free unrepairable

I can't believe I have procrastinated for over 10 years with some of the designs made with old pallets. Everyone thought I was a nut!!!!

Congratulations for the recycle mode of ideas AND to the people who actually believed in themselves and acted on their ideas!!!!!

your are great!

Please note and inform people that some used pallets are chemichally treated and not safe (especially for a crib). Pallets marked with HT were oly heat treated and may be safer, as when pallets marked with MB were sprayed with Methyl Bromide, a toxic pesticide.

Wow, amazing ideas from big to small. Thanks for assembling such an awesome reference!

I would love to build patio furniture using pallets. Where could I obtain directions in how to do so? What would be the best pallets to use?

I am impressed from what we can do with pallets. if you do have additional ideas, please share..

Outdoor Furniture

I am so glad to have found this site. I have fallen in love with pieces I have seen made from pallets but not a clue where to find any. Thanks for letting me become a part of your community!

Passion for design furniture and decorative objects as well, rustic, recycled materials, with a touch of creativity, a little ingenuity, some art.

I was so blown away with what you could make I love it !

..Awesome..the best I've seen.

There is nothing else like it. I walked into there gallery yesterday for the very 1st time. (I had been searching for over 4 months for the perfict dining pub table with a rustic look)

What I left with is amazing. It is exactly what I had been searching for, but better then I could have ever expected!

It is a very relaxing atmosphere. Zero sales pressure. The furniture and the items are stunningly beautiful works of art.

The items sell them selves, with tasteful beauty, style, and prices.

There is no other place like this. An amazing experience.

I am looking forward to shopping there again.

The quality the prices and the people A+++!

I adore this site & all the finesse thst goes into upcycling pallets to beyond anything resembling their original purpose!! Bravo!

PS: Not that I have a prob with showing somethings humble beginnings or original design but to ramp it up a couple of notches? Brilliant. (no pun intended, btw)
